Job Title: Maintenance Engineer - Electrician Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Maintenance Lead Dept./School: Facility Services Department Date Revised: 07/2013
Primary Purpose:
Under general supervision, maintain and repair electrical systems and their components district wide such as outlets, wiring, electrical fixtures, conduit, electrical enclosures, switchgear, motors, switches, power panels and other general electrical equipment. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical systems in district facilities.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School diploma or equivalent
Valid Texas Master Electrician’s License
Valid Texas Drivers License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of latest electrical repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
Knowledge of installing, repairing and operating building electrical and emergency power generation
systems.
Knowledge of current National Electric Code (NEC)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Ability to use hand and power tools
Meet minimum physical requirements (pre-employment examination required).
Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written
Experience:
Five years experience in electrical field
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Determines the cost and type of materials needed for electrical projects.
2. Conducts project review and planning.
3. Troubleshoots and repairs wire circuits including distribution panels, transformers, motor control centers and automatic transfer switches.
4. Installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains electrical control circuits for motors and control devices for various electrical systems.
5. Installs, troubleshoots, repairs, tests and maintains emergency generators, power distribution systems and various electrical systems, components and equipment to insure proper operation.
6. Enter and complete work orders as requested.
7. Responsible for safe condition of assigned facilities.
8. Must have regular and consistent attendance.
9. Participate in meetings and staff development as designed by district staff.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Equipment Used:
Electrical measurement devices (multimeter, circuit tracer, etc.), power tools (drill, saw, etc.) hand tools,), shop tools (band saw, table saw), ladders, and lifts.

Maintain emotional control under stress.
Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors. Exposure to mechanical, electrical and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles.
