Primary Purpose:

 

To provide administrative support to the Special Education staff to ensure the overall daily operations of the department.

 

Qualifications:

 

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent

 

Experience:

Three years office administration, preferably in an education environment

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Publisher and Excel

Must be detail oriented

Knowledge of and skills to operate standard office equipment

Ability to communicate effectively with parents, teachers and staff members

Ability to implement oral and written instructions

Good organizational skills

Bilingual helpful but not required

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  1. Process reports for the purpose of disseminating information to administration and staff.

 

  1. Administer Special Education software by maintaining staff access and processes, running beginning of year procedures, training and support of special education staff.

 

  1. Respond to inquiries of parents, teachers and staff for the purpose of providing special education information.

 

  1. Maintain confidentiality of all students’ special education information.
  2. Responsible for sending special education records for students who have withdrawn from

GCISD.

 

  1. File and maintain excel database of confidential student records being sent to the dead files

 

  1. Adhere to flexible schedule.

 

  1. Assist with tracking of Special Education records from campus to campus at the

beginning and end of each school year in the Special Education student database.

 

  1. Assist PEIMS Coordinator with special education data for reporting to the state/federal agencies for October snapshot.

 

  1. Monitor the data interface between the special education student database and the district student database to ensure accuracy of PEIMS data.

 

  1. Create sampling lists, monitor completion and gather forms related to SPP Indicators 7, 11, 12, 13 and 14.

 

  1. Maintain inventory of special education iPads/devices and oversee distribution to special education staff for the school year and ESY.

 

  1. Maintain distribution of special education licenses, subscriptions and apps to special education students and staff.

 

  1. Schedule interpreters for ARD meetings and check for accurate billing of services.

 

  1. Monitor and edit Special Education website when needed.

 

  1. Other duties as assigned.
