Primary Purpose

Provide district-wide support for students with behavioral intervention plans. This person will teach students strategies that build social and behavioral skills that result in the students meeting their plan goals.  Provide services to students in ways that build upon individual strengths and offer students maximum opportunities to participate in the planning and direction of their own learning experience. Design and utilize a structured environment where students can learn and practice skills needed to be successful. Develop and implement action plans that assist the students with using the skills in the context of the learning environment. Effectively communicate and partner with district leadership, campus administration, counselors, teachers, and parents to support the student. Assist in developing and progress monitoring students with tiered interventions. 

 

Qualifications

 

Education/Experience

Knowledge and skills in developing and providing behavioral services based on the science of Applied Behavior Analysis to assist students in meeting their goals.Knowledge/experience in selecting meaningful goals, methods to monitor and gather data to measure goals, and using frequent data analysis to adjust strategies. Knowledge of MTSS and Section 504 processes including plan implementation and data collection.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Expand students’ use of a variety of skills to improve behavior, social, and academic behaviors 
  2. Catalyst for Change – To create disequilibrium with the current state as an impetus to explore alternatives to current practice
  3. Goals – To ensure that students understand their strengths and areas of focus, set goals, and progress monitor their data. Teach students to be active participants in their success. 
  4. Data Analysis – Ability to use data to improve systems and practices that impact students achievement 
  5. Learning Facilitator – To design collaborative, job-embedded, standards-based professional learning as well as provide summer professional development opportunities
  6. Learner – To model continuous learning, to keep current, and to be a thought leader in the school
  7. Work with certified teachers and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment.
  8. Assist individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teachers, maintaining integrity of assignments.
  9.  Consult classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
  10. Distribute, collect, and check student assignments for accuracy.
  11. Maintain individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers.
  12. Manage student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  13. Record student attendance and discipline referrals using personal computer and assist in maintaining student discipline records.
  14. Supervise students assigned to ISS during lunch and restroom breaks.
  15. Participate in meetings and training sessions as designed by District staff.
  16. Assist in campus duty assignments as required.
  17. Maintain confidentiality.
  18. Regular and consistent attendance.
  19. All other duties as assigned.

  1. Current knowledge and application of educational research on best practices
  2. Deep understanding of the relationship of Curriculum, Instruction & Assessment
  3. Ability to disaggregate and analyze student assessment data
  4. Thorough understanding of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS)
  5. Thorough understanding of the Response To Intervention process
  6. Experience with designing and facilitating quality staff development
  7. Ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders to influence practices and earn trust
  8. Evidence of campus/district leadership
  9. Ability to speak and write effectively, and establish and maintain effective relationships with administrators, teachers, staff, students, and parents
