Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of an early childhood specialist is to support the continuity and fidelity of the district-wide early childhood program. Early childhood specialists will support teacher effectiveness by modeling instructional best practices, literacy instruction, classroom management strategies, and provide in field training for paraprofessionals
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements
ESL Certification preferred
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of five years teaching experience (PK-5th grade)
- Coaching experience preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Extensive reading instruction knowledge (3rd-5th)
- Skilled classroom management
- Strong literacy instruction background
- Learning environment expertise
- Evidence of campus/district leadership
- Ability to speak and write effectively, and establish and maintain effective relationships with administrators, teachers, staff and students.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Increase the quality and effectiveness of classroom literacy instruction.
- Increase the effectiveness of the learning environment and application of behavior intervention strategies.
- Increase instructional skills of classrooms teachers by providing feedback and coaching support.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district wide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
