Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of an early childhood specialist is to support the continuity and fidelity of the district-wide early childhood program. Early childhood specialists will support teacher effectiveness by modeling early childhood instructional best practices, classroom management strategies and provide in field training for paraprofessionals
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements
ESL Certification preferred
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of five years teaching experience
- Instructional Specialist/Coaching experience preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Current knowledge and application of educational research on best practices
- Skilled classroom management
- Restorative practices
- Strong literacy instruction background
- Extensive content knowledge pre-kindergarten through first grade
- Learning environment expertise
- Thorough understanding of multi-tiered system of support (MTSS)
- Evidence of campus/district leadership
- Ability to speak and write effectively, and establish and maintain effective relationships with administrators, teachers, staff and students.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Increase the quality and effectiveness of classroom instruction and model best practices.
- Facilitating the effectiveness of the learning environment and application of behavior intervention strategies.
- Design collaborative, job-embedded, professional learning.
- Increase instructional skills of classrooms teachers to expand teachers’ use of a variety of resources to improve instruction.
- Model continuous learning, in order to ensure current practices, and to be a thought leader in the school.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional district wide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
