Primary Purpose:
Responsible for coordinating the administration, evaluation, and improvement of the instructional and extra-curricular programs for elementary and secondary math. Responsible for co-coordinating the creation, administration, evaluation, and improvement of the Math/Science Schools/Programs of Choice along with the Director of Science and the campus principal.
Qualifications:
Education:
Master’s Degree
Mid-Management Certificate or Principal Standard Certificate preferred
Texas Teachers Evaluation and Support System (TTESS) training, preferred
Three years of classroom experience
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of math curriculum and instruction
Ability to interpret data and evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to identify improvement opportunities and strategize ways to meet improvement areas
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated supervisory experiences and leadership abilities
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
Prior successful experience with math instruction
Minimum two years of administrative experience or instructional leadership roles.
Experience in leading vertical teams, implementing improvement efforts, and coaching teachers in the classroom
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Direct the development, evaluation, revision, alignment, and delivery of the math curriculum K-12 and instructional programs that incorporate district goals and support student achievement.
- Facilitate and oversee professional learning opportunities in math.
- Develop appropriately aligned assessments with the Director of Assessment and core content area directors.
- Monitor and evaluate areas of the district math program to determine the extent to which goals and objectives are met and encourage program improvement aligned with LEAD 2.0.
- Collaborate with curriculum specialists, principals, teachers, and other instructional staff to develop, maintain, and revise curriculum documents based on a systematic review and analysis, including but not limited to changes due to new curriculum standards.
- Provide support to campus principals with the development of PLCs.
- Ensure proper K-12 district practices in RtI related to mathematics.
- Support campuses in data analysis.
- Collaboratively design and work with the Director of Advanced Academics to create viable telescoping options for access to advanced mathematics.
- Support campuses in hiring math teachers.
- Budget for and provide resources, including professional and instructional materials, software, manipulatives, classroom collection of math resources, and tutorial materials that meet student learning needs.
- Design a system of monitoring the implementation of district programs and initiatives in classrooms and adjust the support of those programs and initiatives according to the data gathered.
- Oversee the development of benchmark assessments.
- Demonstrate awareness of district-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
- Support teachers of special populations with materials, resources and curriculum
- Work collaboratively with campus administration in the achievement of district and campus goals.
- Weekly contact with instructional coaches and learning liaisons to inform regarding curriculum, instruction, and assessment changes as they occur.
- Design intentional time for teachers to collaborate around the implementation of curriculum expectations.
- Communicate with classroom teachers regarding TEA updates, professional learning opportunities, and current research.
- Facilitate the process of book/online resources adoption during the adoption cycle.
