PRIMARY PURPOSE: Provide childcare for a group of children birth through age 4; plan and lead age
appropriate early childhood activities and quality care in a safe and healthy environment. Implement
District approved curriculum and developmentally appropriate practices. Document teaching and
student progress, activities and outcomes and provide feedback regarding child progress, goals etc.
Communicate effectively with parents and appropriate District personnel. Maintain a safe, enriching,
and inviting atmosphere.

Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent
48+ hours of study in higher education preferred
Associates degree or Child Development Associates (CDA) preferred
Four to Five years of experience in a licensed childcare setting or teaching field
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Utilize District adopted curriculum with fidelity
Maintain a safe, attractive, organized classroom environment.
Communicate effectively with children, parents and fellow staff members.
Meet training requirements established by Texas Minimum Standards for Childcare Licensing.
Maintain Texas Rising Stars certification standards.
Be supportive of the goals and objectives of the ECDC and the school district.
Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible.
Follow security and safety protocols to ensure the safety of children and staff.
Administration:
Plan and implement the program’s daily activities using district adopted curriculum.
Closely monitor children at the center.
Maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment.
Assist with the serving of snacks and meals.
Maintain student and staff confidentiality.
Prepare accident/incident reports when necessary.
Communicate effectively with parents, staff and children.
Participate in problem solving and collaborative planning with ECDC Administrators.
Maintain inventory of program equipment and supplies.
Discipline and Guidance:
Assist in the management of the classroom in accordance with discipline guidelines and policies.
Ensure discipline is carried out per district policy and in accordance with licensing guidelines.
Student Management:
Maintain student confidentiality.
Utilize digital tools for attendance and reporting.
Maintain lesson plans that can be implemented in the event that you are absent.
Personnel Management:
Provide guidance to Assistant Teachers.
Create and maintain professional relationships with parents, visitors and district staff.
Mentor classroom staff in early childhood developmentally appropriate practice.
Professional Development and Work Ethic
Participate in staff development including but not limited to monthly staff meetings.
Complete annual training requirements set forth by Texas Minimum Standards.
Maintain regular and consistent attendance.
Report to work on time.
Deal sensitively and fairly with children, parents and staff of all cultural backgrounds.

Articulate the district’s mission to the community as necessary.
Demonstrate awareness of the district/community needs.
Working Conditions:
Requires sitting, stooping, bending, walking, standing, and crawling.
Must be able to lift small children of up to 35 pounds
Participate and lead activities with children outdoors on a daily basis.
Maintain emotional control when under stress.
Demonstrate patience and flexibility in changing job demands.
Mental concentration is necessary for handling frequent interruptions while performing tasks.
May also be exposed to contagious diseases from children.
Will be required to work occasional overtime.
Supervisory Dimensions: No supervisory responsibilities.
