Job Title:  Student System Analyst               Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Primary Purpose:  Supports Student Information System users and analyst team members for application support, reporting, project implementation, and systems analysis.  Provides support including but not limited to data analysis, report writing, data extraction, project implementation and operating/supporting system applications.  Supports design and delivery of user training.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Three years of equivalent work experience in management systems
  • Three years of Skyward Student experience preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Working knowledge of information systems analysis 
  • Crystal Reports experience preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain systems documentation and technical assistance manuals.
  • Ability to detect and resolve problems in application software.
  • Ability to work effectively with other district personnel and work independently. 
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills and initiative.
  • Ability to provide training on Skyward Student Management and Gradebook

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Analysis and Programming
1.  Perform all phases of software development, including analysis, design, writing code, testing, and implementation.
2.  Conduct detailed systems analysis to define software requirements.
3.  Ensure that developed software is designed to meet technical and user requirements.
5.  Create, maintain, and update technical manuals and documentation for internally developed software.
6.  Provide systems analysis and design of administrative application areas to identify the needs of the district in those areas.
7.  Analyze, evaluate, and modify existing administrative applications systems as needed.

Database Administration
1. Serve as a database administrator, ensuring integrity control and data security.
2.Develop and run special reports and queries.
3. Identify application-related problems and recommend solutions.
4. Maintain confidentiality of, and a fiduciary approach toward, all departmental and district information, data, forms, etc. (e.g., correspondence, passwords, student data/personnel information, etc.)

Application Support
1. Assist administrative and clerical personnel to complete major projects and jobs as needed including the collection, editing, and reporting of PEIMS data.
2.Provide programming-related support for Student Information Systems applications
3. Communicate with administrative and clerical personnel to determine processing needs, clarify requests, develop solutions, and provide technical assistance.
4. Coordinate with users and software vendors to ensure that all administrative applications systems are maintained at the appropriate release level.
5.Provide user training as needed.
6. Provide ongoing user support and problem resolution for Skyward Student and related programs.
7. Consult with the user community and department administration to ensure that current application systems continue to meet the needs of the district.

Other
1. Maintain up-to-date system and user documentation.
2. Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
3. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
4. Take initiative to develop needed professional skills appropriate to job assignments.
5. Other duties as assigned.
