Job Title:        After School Site Coordinator-Kidz U                     Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

Primary Purpose:

A Site Coordinator is responsible for the planning and implementation of the extended care program’s daily activities at their individual site; the collection of tuition and bookkeeping; supervision of the children in the program; supervision of Site Aides; and the communication with students, staff members, school staff and parents

 

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma or GED

Some college preferred, but not required

Experience working with children in group settings

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Ability to work well with Children

Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

 

Experience:

At least 2 years experience working with children in group settings

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Instructional Management

 

1.       Ensure that the extended care operations are supportive of the goals and objectives of the district and the attainment of the campus performance objectives (academic excellence indicators)

 

Organizational Climate

 

1.       Promote a positive, fun, and caring climate for learning

 

2.       Facilitate and encourage effective communication with staff, community, media and the Borad of Trustees

 

3.       Deal sensitively and fairly with staff, students, parents, citizens and all persons including those of diverse cultural backgrounds 

4.       Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical and responsible

 

5.       Ensure security measures are in place and utilized to maintain the safety of the children

 

6.       Demonstrate support for the district’s policies, regulations, procedures and objectives

7.       Keep the Assistant Coordinator of Extended Care informed about the affairs of the department 

 

Administration

 

1.       Plan and implement the program’s daily activities

 

2.       Monitor students of the extended care program in specific program locations as well as entire campus

 

3.       Provide a fun, safe, and positive environment

 

4.       Maintain an clean and orderly program area and equipment

 

5.       Maintain student and employee confidentiality

 

6.       participate in staff development raining programs

 

7.       Prepare any accident/incident reports and forward to Extended Services Assistant Coordinator

 

8.       Adhere to a flexible schedule as provided by the Extended Services Assistant Coordinator

 

9.       Communicate effectively with principals, staff members, children, and parents

 

10.   Serve in Lead Teacher an/or Site Coordinator capacity during Summer Camps, supervising assigned functions of the camp, site Aides, and children.

 

11.   Ensure security measures are in place and utilized to maintain the safety of the children within the school property and away on field trips

 

12.   Provide problem solving and collaborative planning with the Coordinator and other team members

 

13.   Assist with program evaluations to insure quality, cleanliness and safety

 

14.   Help review child care practices to ensure that policies are followed, and quality programs are evident

 

15.   Assist with daily staffing of schools

 

16.   Assist with the review of inventory of program equipment and supplies and advise of thief purchase as necessary

 

17.   Collect tuition payments from parents and perform bookkeeping tasks

 

18.   Assist with maintenance of records and other documents as required, including family data and financial cards, and use of Procare software 

 

19.   Help to effectively handle complaints by parents, citizens, community, and students.

 

 

Personnel Management

 

1.       Supervise and provide guidance and on-site training to other staff and assigned high school helpers

 

2.       Manage classroom operations regarding guidance and discipline

 

3.       Ensure discipline is carried out as per policy and/or administrative regulations

 

4.       Make decisions regarding student/parent/staff communication

 

5.       Ensure all district safety procedures are adhered to by staff, students, and parents

 

6.       Creates and maintains professional relationships with parents, visitors and school staff

 

7.       Supervise, train, and mentor staff

 

8.       Administer first aid, dispense medication and make all health related decisions in absence of school nurse

 

9.       Manage daily activities and work closely with Extended Services Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator when setting up special activities

 

10.   Contribute input for written evaluations of personnel performance once a year

 

11.   Emphasize the need for appropriate decorum and behavior by staff emphasizing acceptance of cultural and gender diversity and zero tolerance for sexual harassment

 

12.   Responsible for education, motivation and instilling a degree of care, quality, pride and responsiveness

 

School/Organizational Improvements

 

1.       Keeps informed about customer opinion, initiate operation improvements, and makes recommendations to the Site Coordinator and Assistant Coordinator of KidzU

 

Student Management

 

1.       Demonstrate support for the district’s student management policies

 

2.       Maintain student confidentiality

 

Professional growth and Development

 

   1. Develop professional skills and knowledge appropriate to the job assignment

 

   2. Participate in staff development by attending staff meetings as assigned

 

   3. All other duties as assigned

1.       Articulate the district’s mission to the community as necessary and solicit its support in realizing the mission

 

2.       Demonstrate awareness of the district/community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), the ability to cope with emotional situations and stress; maintain control when under stress; Demonstrate patience and flexibility in changing job demands and when interacting with employees, visitors, and the public; Anticipate moderate stooping, bending, and lifting in addition to pushing/pulling equipment during set-up and clean-up;Must be able to stand 80% of the time.
