Grapevine-Colleyville ISD virtual school is seeking a smart, experienced and passionate individual who wants to work in a student-centered environment of respect and trust with high expectations for all members of the community.  We are seeking an individual who believes all students can be successful, and who desires to create a culture of learning and collaboration along with preparing students with the skills necessary for life in the 21st century.

Primary Purpose:

Working from a home office and out of an office within the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD, the certified Virtual Learning Instructor will “virtually” manage instructional programs by providing synchronous and asynchronous online instruction for students in their content area(s). Teachers are responsible for monitoring progress, evaluating work, conducting online instruction, online and face to face tutorial sessions, providing academic guidance, and being the subject-matter expert for the school’s students, including those in need of remediation or advancement. Using the telephone, Internet and various curriculum tools, the Virtual Learning Instructor will consult regularly with program staff, parents and students to ensure that each child successfully completes his/her instructional program.

 

Teachers provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned

Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of core academic subject assigned

General knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft OS and MS Office programs)

Excellent communication skills, both oral and written

Customer-focused approach

High degree of flexibility and willingness to work non-traditional hours

Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment

Team player track record

Willingness to travel on occasion for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)

Ability to work remotely and in an office as necessary

An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (e.g., database and web-based tools)

An ability to support and guide adults as well as students

Ability to work some evening and weekend hours weekly, as needed to support families

 

Experience:

Three years of teaching experience with a preference for online instruction
